My heart bursts with pride at what these young people give for us, I do not get involved in political debates, but as the daughter of a regular soldier (like many here no doubt) I salute them all.

This might be a better place than H&G:

When and where is he going ?
In what capacity ?
Are other family members serving/ex-serving members of Armed Forces ?
I have no experience at all in this , but can only say be proud of their commitment and I along with you hope they are home safe and sound soon. Plus as parents (or relatives) be proud at how they have turned out.

My nephew served out there for six months too, with the RAF,you never stop worrying. Your dad will be working overtime Bez;-)
My son's mate did a tour of duty there last year, worried constantly about him, he came back safe and sound, but saw things you hate to think of a 20 year old seeing. Then again thats what they sign up for, and I was so proud to watch his regiment on their homecoming march.
:ibez: Grandad would indeed be proud, as are we all x

Looks like xstitcher has left us.?

All of these youngsters go off with such high-hopes of being able to do the job for which they have prepared and trained.........my son was far more concerned about what state I was in than anything he would have to face 'out there' :o)
