What's not to like about queueing for 20 minutes for a lager costing £7 plus £5deposit for the glass and £10 for a hot dog

Admission to the Christmas market is free, however, car parking fees apply, see below.

Car parking (pre booking essential)
Weekdays | £17 per car before 3pm / £11 per car after 3pm
Weekends | £28 per car before 3pm / £17 per car after 3pm

I thought that sounds steep- but then I read:  "The market is located on an incline,"

That includes entry to the Christmas market though, Melv:

(I thought £6 to park in Ipswich, to go to the theatre on Saturday evening, was steep enough!)

Is it worth going to, melv?

This year's market is shown in this video:

Scorpiojo. I wouldn't know. Craft fairs are spawn of the devil to me. 200 stalls full of *** 😁

Just the extension of the 'crafting' TV channels, weirdos selling tat made in China to folk with too much spare cash.

Chatsworth at Christmas is lovely, it's more than just the tacky craft market but I would draw the line at almost £50 for the  afternoon tea!!!!

Can you park in Baslow and walk in?

I've not been to a craft fair in years. But I used to sell at small local ones...and visited a few huge ones. Most of the sellers were artists selling their own work...long hours involved in the making, and not always great monetary return.

So please don't assume it's foreign tat.

You can, Tilly, but why would you when for only three grand you can arrive by hot-air balloon accompanied by those kooky musos.

In conclusion, humbug.

Craft fair? Is that where certain ladies go to get their fuzzy felt?

Thanks, Chris.

Thanks, melv 😂

Tilly. You can park in Baslow,  but people are wise to this and the car park will be rammed. I know of a secret parking place that's free😉

come on mel, spill the beans.  Is it outside your house?

The whole thing is ridiculously expensive. Avoid unless you are rich.

//So you won't be going here then, Zebo?
https://www.thecaterer.com/sector/hotel/tea-for-two-at-cliveden-for-550//

We once walked round Cliveden when we were National Trust members and were able to see the salon when afternoon tea was being served, it looked like a scene from Upstairs Downstairs.

//Platinum canapés (including mini £100 sandwich)//

From the Cliveden £600 afternoon tea menu, I can't imagine what's in a £100 sandwich and a mini one at that!
