Then leave out the mushrooms ?

add any but not all of the following
a splash of sherry
a small amount of fresh nutmeg
a splash of Worcester sauce
a splash of teriyaki sauce

and yes, like Chris says, decent mushrooms and plenty of them.
oh and I wouldn't do it in a soupmaker most of the cooking is done before you soupify the mushrooms. I would do it in a frying pan.

Thanks Buenchico, I use chestnut mushrooms ( next best to field ones) always, Stilton sounds a good addition, though I add it after soup is done in the machine, maybe some soy sauce would go in as well, making myself hungry now! Thanks for the ideas. old geezer will be having me add whisky next!
Get some porcini mushrooms, use the water used to rehydrate them as stock and chuck them in with the rest of your ingredients.
not soym Mags, teriyaki, it has a hint of sweetness as well as the soy flavour
