My hubby is tiling our bathroom with Travertine Tiles 410 x 600 to Walls and Floor.

is there a weight issue hanging these on ordinary plasterboard...
he's hung tiles but never Travertine... So any hints and tips On hanging / laying 12mm thick tiles is appreciated,

he's also uncertain as to how much adhesive and grout he needs for 22sq mtrs in total..

Many thanks for your help

No problem. Just give the plasterboard a good thumping to make sure it's attached properly. It would be very unusual for plasterboard to be loose.

Just as a general rule, look on the side of the adhesive tub, see how many sq.mwtres it'll do........ then allow for 30 or 40% more than they say. Same with grouting........ especially with 12mm tiles.
