Building Regs For A Bungalow

I am eyeing a bungalow with two bedrooms and an upstairs room which cannot be classed as a bedroom but is marketed as -
'Useful storage into the eaves. With little effect, this room could be developed further to create a bedroom, home office etc (subject to any necessary permissions'


Now what would this entail?

The existing ceiling joists (3 or 4") will need replacing with (8 or 9") Floor joists and there will need to be insulation to the internal faces of the roof.

Thems the basics but there may be more depending upon the exact nature of the roof......oh, and you'll need a staircase.

Now could I ask how much roughly it would cost?

Too many variables to give a guestimate. If the foundations aren't up to the extra weight they will have to be reinforced

Wow - that sounds like a big/expensive job

Get someone to have a look and give you a quote. It may be much less than you imagine because it's relatively straightforward with no complications. Or it could be such a big job as to be extortionate.
