Geraniums (Pelargoniums)

I have them in pots, six of them and they have been continuously in flower since last June, there are still quite a lot of flowers on them now, altho' the plants themselves are getting quite 'leggy'. Should I cut them right back now (as my friend thinks I should) or wait until about March. It seems such a shame to get rid of the flowers but if it will improve the display for the summer I suppose I must. Any advice anyone? TIA rosy

Are they indoors or outside? My outdoor ones are looking a bit sad, but they still have buds, I'm going to cut them back.

Oh thought I'd mentioned that - they are indoors in a very cold glass porch, boxtops. You are lucky to have buds on yours outside, mine just gave up. I suppose I should cut them back, but there is still such a lot of colour there, I just hate to do it :0( Thank you for replying, rosy
I never ever cut my geraniums down... I leave them and they flower beautifully every year..So I would enjoy those flowers that you have now..I have some still in flower also some fuschias are still flowering that I havent touched
cut back now use the bits that get cut off to start new plants keep the original ones as stock plants for more cuttings around mid march

Thank you katerich and rowanwitch for your replies. I think I will keep the best three and cut the other three back so I will still have some flowers to look at - and see how they fare this summer. Thanks again rosy
