What is this plant please?

I have this plant in my garden and I have no idea what it is. The bush/tree is about 5ft tall and the fruit/berries are 2-3cm across at their biggest. Any ideas?

Not a quince, as Albags said they have furry stems are bigger and quite misshapen

LOL, no worries. At the risk of taking this thread even closer to the gutter...my fruit aren't hairy like a kiwi, they're smooth. They're also yellowy orange so not sure they can be kiwi fruit. A friend has a similar plant and was told it was a quince tree but that doesn't seem to add up either as the fruit on mine don't get any bigger than 3cm. Any more ideas?

Hmm, could well be a Japanese Persimmon (Kaki) Jomifl! I think I shall have to pick a fruit tomorrow and cut it open to confirm.

Prudie, haven't seen it in flower yet I'm afraid. Jules001, they look very similar to the crab apples. Another one to investigate tomorrow!

I didn't say Kiwi .. I said a member of the same family.
The only other tree like this would be a Malus variety... like 'Golden Hornet'

No on Persimmons ..
They (fruit) look like tomatoes . with a tough leaflet at stem junction.
