Hi, my grandfather joined the police in about 1900, we have recently found a photo of him in uniform with a badge,no. 350 B, I know he was living in Paddington at the time and wondered if anyone knows of police records for personnel going bak thatfar. Thanks

my great great grandfather was in the lincolnshire police from 1869 to 1881 and i managed to get his full record from the archives at their modern HQ, the record gives his career record, a full physical description and his place of birth, excellent records. you'll need to start here:
