Had two catalogues in the post today, one offering a free handbag with any order. The other one is offering:-
Kenwood juicer £24.99
Kenwood kettle £30.99
Kenwood toaster £49.99
Kenwood coffee maker £79.99
This is a total of £185.96. All this for any order. How can they afford this?
There must be something fishy, if everyone orders a £10 T shirt what kind of profit can they be making. Has anyone order this yet?

It might be a loss leader. They're willing to lay out that £185 in order to attract new customers.

Sandy they are not doing it get new customers, they say this is a thankyou to existing customers, along with entry into £50,000 draw and £1000 draw.
Just seems too good to be true.
What catalogue is it caran?
Question Author
It's Damart.
I regularly get Damart catalogues but have never ever ordered from them. Gosh that sounds too good to be true! Typical I haven't received a catalogue this time, but maybe I will soon.
they've got a big sale on on their website at the moment, so maybe they're just clearing their shelves of older stock

I've had that one too. Not the handbag, but the free juicer/kettle/toaster etc. You're right - it is fishy. Why? Read carefully. The Kenwood stuff is something you 'could' win in their prize draw - 'Free Kenwood 4-piece Breakfast Kitchen set PRIZE DRAW ENTRY'! It is NOT the 'multi-piece breakfast set' that you're going to get as a free gift. I've looked right through all the inserts and can't find a picture of that anywhere, but my guess is it's probably a few plastic egg-cups and a toast rack.

I have ordered twice from them, once I sent something back but you have to pay your own return postage. I have looked through the catalogue but cannot find anything I want to order, but it seems such a waste to pass up on nearly £200 of freebies even though I don't need any of them and they would end up in the loft. Annoyingly though I just bought daughter a coffee maker for Christmas.
Question Author
I have looked again at this and I think you are right saxy jag. In the prize list it says :- FREE GIFT multi-piece breakfast set
free £50000 prize draw entry
free £1000 prize draw entry
Free Kenwood 4 piece breakfast kitchen set prize draw entry.
So as you say 1st option could be 4 eggcups!! So glad, talked myself out of it.
NOW you tell us, Carandrog! AFTER we've all just ordered 50 pairs of thermal long johns from Damart!!!
Question Author
Chris keep you nice and warm with the long cold, wet winter we have in store.
It's amazing how you get sucked in with these kind of offers though.
I got that one too caran but I didn't have time to read what I would really get if I bought some of their sexy thermals. I got a catalogue last year I think it had one right hand leather glove. If I bought something frim the catalogue I would get the left hand one free. I often wonder how many people claimed the left one or what they did with the surplus left handers.
Question Author
I've got a feeling it was the same catalogue that offered a free food processor, photo looked fantastic. I ordered a jacket that was fine. The processor was a plastic one, not electric but a windy handle to make it go round, pathetic.
Did he have that terrible moustache that he grew?
No such thing as a "Free Gift". Since when did anyone have to pay for a gift?
I only once ordered something I did not want, to get a free winter coat, I later got a letter back to say "due to high demand " they had run out of the coats and they were very sorry, so I sent the item back.
Once bitten twice shy never bothered again.
