Just purchased one of these Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation and the instructions for its care state that it will benefit from being seasoned. What seasoning? Some sort of oil?

Wash with washing up liquid and water.
Put it in the oven to heat, then add oil and swirl it around.
Repeat both steps, then NEVER wash it with washing up liquid again, just wipe with kitchen roll, or soak in hot water to remove baked on food

I'd suggest following the specific instructions for the Mermaid cookware. Ratters link asks for much longer in the oven.
