I have 4 bottles of champagne given to me over the years but unopened. The oldest is eight yers old. They have been stored on their side but are subject to the regular temperature changes you would get in a normal living room. Are they still drinkable? I dont want to open them to find out.

They are probably completely unfit and may even be toxic now. Send them to me and I will ensure they are properly disposed of...

Will Champagne be OK after two years unopened?
Yes, it should be fine. It's one of the few types of wine that can be stored upright rather than on its side and even non-vintage Champagne develpos more savoury depth over time. He goes on to say that he has tasted champers from the Pol Roger cellars from WW1 and that it was still in good condition with some bubbles and and it was very ruch and savoury.
Can't imagine anything with alcohol lasting for 8 years in our house. * mins possibly
Sorry RUCH = RICH. Clumsy morning fingers
If you are not intending to open them soon why do you need to know this? They should be OK unless the corks were defective in the start which is not likely.
