Onwards and Downwards Continues in February 2015

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner how about some healthy alternatives to chocolates. Here is one idea from xstitcher:

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/dietetic-banana-nut-muffins/

She says "These are really good and not naughty. I threw in a handful of dried cranberries when I made them yesterday. You could put on a dollop of Greek yogurt drizzled with a bit of honey and stick an edible red heart on the top. These are not naughty and well worth the investment of the Stevia sweetner."

I also did a bit of googling and came up with these:

http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/lemon-treats

http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/no-bake-thumbprint-cookies

both of which are completely sugar free :-)

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Hi Again Maydup. Now just to verify that what I say works I can tell you that since getting Diabetes type 2 and having a blood sugar count of 115 I have lost 15 kilos, gone down 4 to 5 top sizes (depending on the style) and my blood sugar is 44 with just 2 pills a day......normal is 31 to 44. I'm saying this so you can see that what I am doing is working....forget the blood...

Well done to all the losers. I haven't been reporting on here for a while, but I have lost 4 of the 6 pounds I put on at Christmas. (I have been eating slowly, as was recommended in that Horizon programme about dieting.) I was doing a walk every day, but have forgotten to do that for the last few days, I guess it hasn't become a habit yet.
A day late this week as i had an early start yesterday and ran out without weighing in. But this morning tells me that I am back to my pre Christmas weight which is about 1lb down for the week. Lets hope I can keep this gentle loss going now and let go of at least half a stone for March.
Well done Maydup and Marijn. It's wonderful how well everybody is doing compared to days gone by. If things begin to go wrong which can happen, never give up. We're all here with support and help to get back on track again.
Indeed. Good to hear folk are putting the excesses of Xmas into the past. And most of the year still here to make headway to their goal.
Well done marijn and Maydup .i was not going to weigh today as I forgot yesterday but I thought I had better as this is when things start to go wrong if you miss . Fully clothed I am down 1lb so it should hopefully be a bit more before getting dressed .will leave it now till wed and carry on onwards and hopefully downwards .
Thank you and well done to you all too.
Thank you for the boost. I will keep going. Well done, and good luck to everyone for next Wednesday :-)
Thanks Marijn I'm working on it. Tonight we had salmon cakes...yuk..but hubby liked them.
Hi all, its been a long time since I've been here but just wanted to check in with my weight loss of 9lbs since 5 Jan :o))

I'm kind of cheating a bit as I'm doing the Diet Chef diet but it suits me as I'm up at 6am and don't get home until 7pm so I don't need to think about what I'm going to eat or cook, even!
Well done you !

My weighing tomorrow could go either way depending on this last 24 hours.
Thanks O_G and good luck for tomorrow!
Well done tigger whatever suits you when you have to be out all day . I have lost 2 lbs BUT that is over 2 WEEKS so quite pleased with that .
Keep up the good work, everyone. I've lost another 500 grams but the elusive under-25 BMI is but a smidgen away! The joy of wearing smaller clothing is a good enough reason for me to continue on my longterm quest to loss 20 kilos...only 2k to go!
Keep going everyone. As you know, every loser is actually a winner so keep on losing ! xx
>:-(

Didn't opt to go down. 0.2 lbs over the last 24 hours in order to stay the same. Oh no. Went up 0.8 lbs apparently, so I'm 1 lb up over the week.
I've managed to miss the magic moment this week and forgotten to weigh in. We're off out for a few days and I had my breafast early. See you next week instead. Good luck to you all and stick at it!
Good morning all. I'm down 2 lbs which is very satisfactory. Tsh tsh OG it's the naughty step for you I'm afraid.
Good for you Jomlett. I know what you mean by wearing smaller sizes...pure heaven! Wait until we put aside our winter clothes and start trying on our lighter ones..we'll be swimming in them!
Have a good holiday Maydup and we look forward to your return.
Your loss was very good Wendilla..a pound a week is nothing to snuff at!
Sweetener in the banana muffin is not good for you
If the sweetener you use is Stevia it is just fine...no danger at all. I would advise you to Google "Stevia"
After one day of being under goal, and another of being on goal, it has now jumped up again ! Something is having a laugh with me. And the higher input weekend is almost here.
