TTT is correct here !

Unfortunately TTT, since 2015, I now have a Tory MP, for the first time in over a 100 years !
Three whips defied the whip?
Priceless!
When Corbyn cracks the whip it doesn't just crack, it shatters
Question Author
congrats mikey on your Tory MP, you deserve it.
TTT...But he has a very small majority of 27, mostly due to the rise in UKIP voters. So I don't see that Labour will have any problem in gaining back the seat in 2020.
My area voted to Leave, but my MP was a Remainer. He voted for invoking, which was the correct thing to do.

Jo Stevens in Cardiff, her area voted to Remain, and she voted against the bill, which is also the correct thing to do.

The only MPs who should have any shame are those who voted against their constituents wishes, which going off of the figures, are those who voted for the Bill.

there were no voting areas gromit, there were counting areas but they don't match constituencies. The only "constituency" that matters is the UK as a whole.

Oh dear mikey it is not looking good for you at all.

Since there may not be a Labour party in 2020, it seems more than likely that you will have a UKIP MP
"The only 'constituency' that matters is the UK as a whole"

... and thanks to this vote we may never have the chance to use that phrase again.

But all the Little Englanders will be happy enough as they sail off into the sunset with dreams of ruling the waves again.

Come on TTT, see if you can respond without calling me a leftie or a sweaty.
Little Englanders Haha, I take it that is coming from an even "littler" Scotlandlander. The mind set, we don't like to answer to the UK parliament cuz there's English people there, but are happy to let the German and French pyramid scheme tell us what to do. Nothing has really changed in centuries up there. The Scots always did ally themselves with whoever was threatening England.
Question Author
ok andrew but can you explain why you think the UK as a whole is going to somehow cease to exist? Anyway you are entitled to your view and so am I, if you voted to remain that's your choice, your opinion was not that of the majority, that's democracy. Not sure why you feel the need to engage in the name calling that your kind seem to treasure.
Question Author
andrew, andrew, where for art thou?
Having followed the knee-jerk reaction of the Little Englanders to detach us from a power bloc which gave us some say in world affairs, Theresa the Appeaser is now placing us under the influence of the racist, misogynist President of USA (i.e. the Special Relationship, which historically always favours the USA). So much for "taking back control".
Question Author
have another punnet canary! PMSL!
No.
Haha. "Some say" in the World. We didn't even have any say in our own law or parliamentary procedures, and as for having any bearing on the American electorate I can't say we have ever had that influence. So the wise Theresa conducts herself in a courteous and cordial manner and that is read( by the 5th column) as being in some way subservient, but decades of licking the boots of unelected and anonymous Brussels manipulators is in some twisted way empowering. Meeh.
Nope, but lucky for them I'm harmless.
My MP voted with the government despite being a 'Remain' supporter.
MPs are elected to represent their constituents, so what the country as a whole did is, at least technically, neither here nor there. Of course, there was only one practical decision available to the Commons last night and they made it comfortably. That said, the whip was imposed by the two main parties, so it was never in doubt. I wonder if the House would have been quite so keen to vote through this bill in a free vote. Perhaps it's as well that we never found out.

Jim, //I wonder if the House would have been quite so keen to vote through this bill in a free vote.//

Shades of this vote isn’t really valid? ;o)
