Last night I was reading and very relaxed with my cat beside me and all of a sudden there were really loud fireworks going off my poor cat was very upset it was only the 17th October yesterday. I was in Morrisons yesterday and there was a stall selling them already. I think its ridiculous apart from the financial reasons why is this happening

There's a shop in Retford sells them all year round.
they been in supermarkets for weeks here
Happens every year. Get over it.
Surely they can be bought all year round.
Diwali
Buying fireworks
You can only buy fireworks (including sparklers) from registered sellers for private use on these dates:

15 October to 10 November
26 to 31 December
3 days before Diwali and Chinese New Year
At other times you can only buy fireworks from licensed shops.
Probably because it is Diwali at the end of this month
Everything's being sold earlier and earlier. I expect easter eggs in the shops next week
Earlier sales mean more sales.

Personally, I'd ban them except for licensed displays - I loathe the damned things!
Are we not allowed our Celebrations also?
//Diwali or Deepavali is one of the most prominent and famous Hindu festivals of India, celebrated with great gusto and fervor. In Sanskrit, word ‘Deepavali’ means “rows of lights” so this festival is also known as “Festival of Lights”//
There must be other ways to celebrate? Are you saying that if fireworks had never been invented there would be no Diwali?
The Festival of Lights. There are many types of lights we can and do use, so why not Fireworks, as they are used by everyone to celebrate everything. Unless of course you have some other reason to object.
I object to fireworks because they scare animals and many people. I would like use of them limited to certain days of the year, to include Diwali but only on the day....similarly only on nov 5th and jan 31st/1st.
I agree that they do seem to be used “by everyone to celebrate everything” and think that its time to set some controls on this.

totally agree with you woofgang
I love fireworks.
So do I, hc.

hc, so do I. Sadly, my dogs and many other people’s pets and livestock are terrified by them. I don’t think its right that my, or anybody’s pleasure should cause fear in others.

Have to agree Woofgang, they need to bring in different legislation simply because the way/occasion that people are using fireworks for has changed and won't go back to how they used to be used. Poor animals, it must be a nightmare for the owners and of course the wildlife that doesn't stand a chance!
