Almost 2wks ago I started feeling under the weather, non specific, just very tired I suppose.

I then developed a very deep dry hacking cough a week ago, par for the course at this time of the year I thought. Quite debilitating and keeping me awake at night.

Three days ago I developed a pain in my left side, between my sternum and my waist, at bottom of rib cage. When I cough or sneeze, the pain is off the scale, it's stabbing. No pain when i'm breathing normally only when I cough or sneeze.
Cough is becoming productive, pretty normal coloured mucus.I'd only need docs for strong painkillers.

Anyone had the same and what did you do?

Maybe you pulled a muscle coughing.
I thought the same.

I thought the same as well, great minds !

Been reluctant to go to docs but think i'll bite bullet for pain relief. Just didn't fancy chest x-rays and all that palaver.

I agree with the "great minds".

However, if your sputum contains blood or changes colour over the weekend, or indeed you start to become breathless, then consult your doctor.

Not much you can do for the pain..........just hold your chest when you cough or sneeze.

My pain relief at the moment is indeed 'holding onto my chest when I cough and sneeze'....you're a great mind as well Sqad :)

Thanks all, helps getting your mind put at ease.

On the back of still feeling miserable, still with the painful cough, tonight i;ve developed another symptom.
When I move to got to 'anywhere' let's say, I have such a strange painful, throbbing pain in my very lower back which extends to my head once i've sat down. I can feel it pulsating....it subsides after a few minutes of sitting down.
I truly don't suffer from anything and this whole carry on has me bothered and perplexed.

I haven't googled as I just know I should be dead by now ;) Seriously, anyone throw any light on what's happening. I will go to my GP but in the interim any help would be appreciated.
I think you are right to get checked at the GP - make a list of each symptom , it's so easy to forget to tell the whole story.

You'll soon get sorted I'm sure - let us know.

Yes, I think i've got to write the symptoms down, even although they don't appear connected. Can't even be bothered going to the Docs , so tired. What a dilemna.
Thank you Mamyalynne (3rd time lucky), sometimes when you're in pain a clear head helps.

For anyone who replied..

I have started to feel better, cough has broken and the pain is going along with the cough. More energy etc.Been a tough nearly 3wks
Pain in back is going as well, not a clue what that would have been but i'm as reluctant to google as I am to go to my GP so i'm just happy I received reassuring salient advice.
Thank you all for taking the time etc :)
Glad to hear you are recovering, good news.

Thank you :)

Best answers are alien to me but you Mamyalynne (it's a b***r) to spell) have always been very reassuring so quite simply thank you.
