I would like to complain to the Times newspaper that there is no prize of a gold pen for completing their Latin crossword published on Saturday. They do award gold pens for their crossword on Sunday.I would like to say "I believe the Latin puzzle deserves a gold pen".I did Latin A-level many years ago but have forgotten too much to feel confident. If anyone can draft my sentence in Latin I would be extremely grateful.

Puto rebum Latinum styli aurei merendum esse

Assuming that the editor can speak Latin.
Google says, "Credo Latini puzzle meretur coronam auream pen"
I've never done Latin, but Google gives -

"Credo Latini puzzle meretur coronam auream pen"

I have no idea if that's of any use!

A good point, but there must be a crossword editor.

Thanks to people who googled my question Much appreciated, but I can see mistakes eg puzzle in Latin is rebus.
Ego puto latin puzzle mereo mereor a aurum calamus ?
Clarior e tenebris.
Ignore Google. I can't do much better but I am sure I can do better than that
"tunc et ipse benefac!"
;-)

Thanks for trying Togo, but your Latin translation link has shown the same problems as Google.
Puto rebum Latinum styli aurei merendum esse
Why should the puzzle win the pen? Don't you want to win it?

(grin, duck and run....)

Your answer looks promising, Jackdaw 33. How did you find it?
Take "coronam" out... that's a bit random and use pennam instead of one. You can only really ask for a golden quill...
Instead of pen...
I didn't. I just dredged up my Latin from 50 years ago and thought it sounded good. I can't guarantee its accuracy but an accusative and infinitive plus a gerundive has to sound cool.
Gawd jackdaw just reminded me of our Latin master at school. I went all pale.
Of course, if I were Tacitus I would have dropped the 'esse'.
