For the last four months or so when I post on Tripadvisor the section that shows I have messages (little bell with a number beside) never lets me open it. I click on it and and it just disappears.
The thought of tackling all the thousand possibilities of questions on TA is scary, but anyone else having this problem?

Your web browser is the program (or 'app', if you prefer) which you view web pages with. If you're using a Windows PC (or laptop) the default browser is Edge with Windows 10 or Internet Explorer with earlier versions of Windows. However most people using Windows prefer to use either Firefox or Chrome. (There are many, many other browsers for Windows though!)....

The problem is likely to be related to the way that the TripAdvisor website works with your browser. So the obvious thing to do is to try a different browser.
Tripadvisor has updated it's website recently (hasn't everyone!). If you view your profile you will see a black band across the top with badges, travel map, messages etc. If you have received an actual private message it will appear there under the message tab.

Chris: Not entirely sure what a browser is?
Is it Google? And what else is there?
Prudie: no black band.

If you're using an Android device it will probably have either Chrome or Opera as its default browser. However Dolphin, Firefox and others are also popular.

The default browser on an iPad is Safari but other browsers, such as Chrome, are also popular.

[Google isn't a browser. It's a search engine and also the n
. . . and the name of the company behind it, which also produces the Chrome browser].

Whichever browser you're using, it's well worth trying a different one!

(I wish I knew why this laptop occasionally submits posts without me clicking 'Answer Now', which is why I've had to post this in two parts!)
