Following on from nailit's thread below, I would be interested to know what common foods you will not eat and why. Some years ago my sister-in-law put on a picnic for her daughter's wedding guests. Some of them were rugby players from the local club, and two of them said they could not eat chicken drumsticks "because they have bones in them". ???

Question Author
I love it!
beetroot, olives, broad beans - because they taste revolting
Agree Baldric
To many to mention, chicken drumsticks is one of them though.

Prudie, sorry but I just don't get it! You have just named three of my favourite foods!
I couldn't eat meat with bones in it for a couple of years following an emergency call-out as a junior regional archaeology unit field worker. Cooked meat and bones looks distressingly like the decayed product at a certain stage.
No more detail. I went into the shower fully clothed and booted at the end of that day's work. I can understand the bones in meat thing.
I couldn't think of a food I'd never eat until I seen Baldric's reply, I had a visitor a month back and decided to get in some Marmite for her, having never tasted it myself, I decided to open it and spread on my toast as she made it sound absolutely delish... I was very sick for almost 2 days having tasted it, even thought all forums on the internet claimed it was a 'super food' and great for morning sickness. I was sick for hours and could taste it for hours. That's why I wouldn't touch it again with a barge pole, mind you, she got a right laugh from my tale of woe.

Could age be a factor here? I was a
young child immediately after WW2 when food was rationed and scarce. You ate what was put on your plate and was grateful for it, refusal was not an option.
Only common when I'm traveling I suppose....but Foie gras is my no-no....
I've said it before and I'll say it again. You don't spread Marmite like jam. You spread it on then scrape it off so that you left with just a residue.
Nothing at all to do with your post rabet - but I do hate sprouts. I just wondered where your avatar is from?
blackadderV, that's what I learned later.. still would never go back to it
There's loads I won't eat (I'm complete food nightmare) - including meat on the bone.
I agree about foie gras but i also cannot eat any kind of brassica. even the smell makes me feel sick. Its the same with coconut or anything containing coconut products.
Olives, nasty and salty
Broad beans, covered in cotton wool
Tripe, and innards in general, yeuk.
Beetroot, olives, broad beans, butter beans, sprouts (fresh, not frozen) - a meal made in heaven.

Oops, forgot the pease pudding.

granny grump, your answer is relevant to my question. My avatar is Elm Hill, a medieval street in Norwich, my home city, although I do not live there now I regret to say.
oh and google "balut"
