Try window stickers like these http://shopping.rspb....w_window_stickers.htm

Why on earth didn't I think of the RSPB?
Thanks I'll give those a try. |

They do work phoebe as I've used them myself. I'm afraid the windows that reflect the garden are the worst, as opposed to one the birds can see right through. I'm sure you have but if you have any more birds flying into your window make sure they're dead as sometimes they just knock themselves out for a while. I had a greenfinch do that and after about 20 mins it suddenly flew off much to my delight.

Those stickers haven't worked on my windows. I did have some black silhouette stickers of hawks which did work really well (also purchased from the RSPB) but I left them when I moved house and they RSPB don't seem to have them any more, and these replacements don't work and I'm still having casualties this despite the fact that there is always a cat or two sitting on the widow sills (inside).

Oh yes nungate, mine were hawks, I remember now. What a shame, poor birds, I suppose nets, blinds or some other kind of window stickers that break up the expanse of window would help.

Thanks for the advice, yes the poor little souls are definitely dead, I hate it and feel so guilty about it, they have had a enough to contend with just recently, we have also had a Sparrow Hawk visiting quite regularly especially a few weeks ago when they were breeding, yes I know that they need to eat as well, but do they have to do it in my garden!?
I will shop around an see what window stickers I can find. |

fine net curtain on the inside should help

Have you got a bird table, if so place it near the window, they might be more inclined to go there for food than to fly straight into your window thinking it's a tree. I know what you mean, poor little things

maybe they have seen you cooking and want to try some :)
