What is this insect???

Since we moved into our house 18months ago we've fairly regularly seen these little silver insects & don't know what they are/ where theyre coming from...

They're silver, move abit like a woodlouse, but theyre abit longer & thinner. They have very thin antenae(?) and about 6 thin legs. Their body doesn't have the ridges of a woodlouse. Weve noticed them more in the kitchen & bathroom. They seem to stop moving when they sense us near them. Any info much appreciated!

definitely sound like silverfish. They like damp places.

silverfish are usually found more in the bathroom/kitchen so could be those. Perhaps if you google it for a photo you will be to identify it for sure.

silverfish!........They like damp places, you can get some powder to get rid of them!........not a big problem really!.........

think you can get insect powder at wilko, they are not a problem!........easily sorted!...........

thanks to everyone, ill see what wilkos have to offer. Theres not loads, but their scuttling about makes me cringe!

Gosh, that takes me back to when I was a kid, we had them in the house I was born in. Never even realised that "silverfish" was their real name, thought dad had made it up!

the first time I noticed them in our house was when a post it note had fallen down and landed upside down overnight, in the morning there was one stuck to the sticky bit :). If you don't fancy using powder, just cover your floor with post it notes!
