I thought that you lovely ABers might like to know how Rover is. We went back to the vet on Wednesday, and it seems - miraculously - that for now, he's OK. He's been taken off his kidney medication, he's eating voraciously, drinking, weeing and pooing as normal - no sickness, which was his main symptom.

He was quite weak when he came home but is gaining strength, and has already regained half of the weight he'd lost while away. His fat tail was a skinny sad thing but is growing back. The pads on his feet are still quite sore but will improve. He's spending most of his time sleeping and eating, which sounds nice to me!

The other catz are much more tolerant of him that they were before he went away - there's still some grumbling but all three catz sleep in the same room now, which is amazing.

We still can't believe it, given his previous state of health - we really thought he'd have faded away by now, but he hung on in there, bless him, and we are so lucky that the person who found him did the right thing and took him to the vet. The CPL have written to the local paper this week, telling his story, to advocate the benefits of microchipping - had he not been chipped, we'd never have been reunited.

He seems very glad to be back!

DT, I think he's had enough of eating meat on the hoof for the moment - OH reckons that the cat food he's had this week are the first meals he's had for months which haven't fought back!

I am sure that we will find him a nice piece of turkey :-)
That's a great outcome boxy. Do you think he remembers you? I wonder because I think dogs would remember but I'm not sure about cats after all those months.
Fabulous. So pleased to hear it.
I'm really happy for you and Rover Boxy, a good ending to what was an upsetting thing to know about. Glad he is happy to be home, makes you wonder what he must have been thinking all the time he was away...aww, poor little soul.

Hope he really picks up again now with the tlc you give him...and I hope his sore paws get a lot better very soon. Glad you gave us the update, I was wondering how he and you were. x

We wondered if he'd remember anything after all that time, prudie - but when we went to collect him from the vet, he looked a bit blank at first, but once he'd had a good sniff at OH, he came bounding back, I am sure they go on scent rather than sight. He's settled back into a routine much the same as before. It's so hard to say - we know how we'd react, but a cat mind is very different!

It's really hard for me when I go out now, to realise that I can stop looking under bushes and in hedges, he's home!

Daisy, we've had to realise that he probably wasn't missing home (in the way we would) while he was away - he was too busy trying to survive, and look for the next meal!
Really pleased he's back again, they just seem to pick up where they left off. Glad he's back before the bad weather starts.
oh, i wish that boy could tell you where he has been !!!!!!!!
So pleased for you. My daughter has kept hers in for 2 weeks. He has been out now and is coming back . He is back to his usual self after being away for 10 weeks. Merry Xmas to you.
It is great that he is back and survived where we all feared that he wouldn't.

I hope that the peace in the household keeps going and doesn't change once he feels up to taking over the dominant role.

I 'know' that my two are wild animals and that they don't see life as we do - but I would be devastated to think that they were lost and having to fend for themselves.

It is really nice news in such a horrible world. Rovers Return! :-)
Really hope your boy continues to progress well! It is so worrying when our furkids get ill! Hugs!
Best Christmas pressie ever for you - great news.
I'm glad he is back appreciating home comforts in time for the festive period.
really glad that hes ok xxx

Thank you all - and thank you, china!
Every time I saw postings of yours over these weeks I have wanted to ask but didnt want to distress you. There could be no better outcome really. So pleased for you.
I think this is great! I am so pleased he came back. I remember how I felt when ASBo went missing for weeks but then returned.

Happy Christmas to you, and Mr Boxy and the Boxy furbabies.
Really pleased to hear he's doing so well, I was wondering how he had got on at the vets. It's a lovely story to end the year on.
