Just watching the above as usual,

It never ceases to amaze how many people don't know which way up The Union Flag goes.

Oh don't be such a grouch. Just sing!!!!!!
Maybe they're in distress...
I'm with Baldric here, really annoys me too, I'm also amazed how many people need the words of Jerusalem.
//Maybe they're in distress...//

Perhaps they were the Remoaners Baldric. :))
Just sitting here watching it, as usual and being a "baby boomer" I think ours is the last generation to appreciate the "last night." :(
actually thought that this was a very flat performance....bring back Marin Alsop and Renée Fleming......
There was a lot of EU flags.
and why has Katherine Jenkins or Charlotte Church never had the balls to appear......??

Cashier, it's a free Country, they let the delusional in as well
This is a wonderful programme lauding, Great Britain, not the EU.
The Union Jacks were well in the preponderance, cashier. Enjoyed it, as usual, but seems to me that the 2nd half has been whittled away to the bare minimum. e.g. We used to get all the Sea stuff. Feeling happy & positive.

They're not good enough, DT!
a lot of the EU flags were in support of the remainers, the classical (and jazz) musical world wanting to remain within the EU - there have been several instances of the Beeb trying to influence conductor's speeches, apparently, to take out the remain arguments......
I would contend that KJ could match that Swedish gal - she couldn't handle Gershwin that well - and I didn't think her performance on the Proms classics was particularly on song.
Katherine Jenkins and Charlotte Church have no place to be part of the Proms.

effortless.....

Union Jack, it just gets worse.

It's only a Union Jack if it's on a Jackstaff at the pointed end of a Ship.
at least they are British......so nominate your Brit sopranos/mezzos to perform.
and for any violin solo before hand, I'll put up a nomination for that wonderful Scot, Nicola Benedetti - who has performed in the Proms at large.
Mikey will thank you for that link, DTC, she's one of his favourites (and mine, have seen her at Covent Garden)
