I have recently seen a move about a captain on an old style galleon chasing after a french ship (I think). He ends up forcing his crew to sail around South Africa in a terrible storm. He is heavily out gunned. They stop off on some islands and the ships doctor is into finding new species but they cross the island to find french ship holed up in a bay
