Watching the football, thinking particularly when England or Wales are playing, there seems to be a lot of children in the crowd. I thought you needed permission now to let the children miss schooling, surely going to watch the footy ain't a good enough reason.
It wouldn't be feasible to think they would travel back and fore for each game, once they over there they stay till their team are knocked out, not long to wait if your welsh!! and I am..
I nipped out to the shops earlier and there were kids everywhere! This was 1.30ish. Anything from 4 to 13-year olds. I huffed and I puffed round the various stores thinking "why aren't you in school?". It was like a weekend!!!
The only infringement I am aware of was when one day I absent-mindedly wandered off home at afternoon playtime, thinking it was the end of the school day. Of course, I was always a dreamy kid, head full of tea-packet cards of the planets and Biggles's latest adventures.
I dare say there will be those who have flown out there for the duration and have taken kids with them. If they can afford to do that, they can probably afford any fine incurred.
Permission is only needed to take the children out of school for holidays during term time. If permission is refused, a fine could ensue. Days off can be taken with a phone call or email to the school, as with sickness. Don't know why there were so many children around at 1.30. Perhaps there was some kind of staff training taking place in the afternoon. It does happen occasionally.
