Having not posted on Brexit of late, and to ensure TTT is not suffering withdraw symptoms, here is an update on the disaster that keeps on giving.

When Daily Express readers acknowledge what a disaster Brexit is, you can be sure it is a disaster.
Interestingly one Daily Express reader said ‘Of course Brexit is a failure, it only takes someone with a fraction of a brain to observe the damage it has caused to our economy and the havoc it has played with our businesses – the lifeblood of our nation.’

Unhappy with a Yougov survey which showed those thinking the UK was right to leave the EU at its lowest level of 31%; the Express ran its own poll amongst its readers only to find 62% responded that Brexit had been a failure and only 29% a success.

Some may ask why I’m continuing to post on AB what a disaster Brexit is – based on the replies to my posts, many ABers are of the opinion that Brexit is a fantastic success for the UK – they are wrong.

One can always find some gullible folk to embarrass themselves for a newspaper article.
Cheers Hymie, I was going a bit cold turkey there, you've perked me right up.
The British public voted for Brexit.
It was unlucky there was a Conservative Government who had to implement it.
Cameron did the wise thing and scarpered immediately. Leaving it to the Conservative supporters of Brexit to negotiate a great deal for the UK. Unfortunately they didn’t.
New trade deals with the rest of the world have been few and far between, trade with our nearest European neighbours has slumped because of the extra costs and mountain of paperwork.
So Brexit has been done, but we find ourselves with very little to show for it.
I wonder what would have happened if Abacus and Cobstello had won in 2019.
It could hardly have been any worse than we have got under the numerous Conservative leaders since 2016.
Playing the supposition game deflects from the harsh reality of our current reality.
Im a firm remainer,Hymie, however it was you left-wing loonies that lost us the Remain vote.Corbyn was a Brexiteer.Mick Lynch was the main left-wing Brexiteer.Yet Corbyn is lauded,Mick Lynch is lauded.Welcome to dystopian Britain Hymie.
brexit was not a disaster, the gov were a disaster and frost our negotiator and his team, gave to much away.while the eu and barnier gave up nothing
I don't think it's possible to judge how bad or good Brexit has been because it's coincided with other things, ie Covid and Ukraine. These things have screwed up the world economy as a whole. This is why for example Germany is in recession because of it's reliance on Russian gas. Nowt to do with Brexit.

Sorry to attempt a sensible answer when I realise rants are required, but there you go.

It appears that some people on AB are of the opinion that I am some sort of left-wing, 5C loony, based on my posts.

I can only assume this is because I regularly post threads highlighting our corrupt/incompetent/dishonest Tory government (and ministers thereof).

I have noticed whenever I post a thread critical of the Tory government due to their corrupt/incompetent/dishonest (delete as applicable) behaviour, I invariably get abuse (I assume from Tory supporters) attacking me, not the story. They appear quite happy that the political party they support is corrupt/incompetent/dishonest.

I don’t believe I’ve ever posted anything on AB in support of Corbyn or Lynch – sometime back I posted a video of that well known left-wing, 5C loony (Sir John Major), in which he pointed out (in a very reasoned video) the disaster Brexit would be, prior to the referendum.
I was even attacked for this post - you just can’t win on AB.
If you want your country ruled from abroad then surely that cannot be anything other than treacherous. End of.

Clearly I am out of order, wanting to be governed by a government that is not corrupt, incompetent or dishonest.
However she ite our government may or may not be, they are elected by us. EUSSR bureaucrats are not elected by anyone yet you'd rather they ran our country. Can you think of a better label than 5C?

I wonder who elects those MEPs, representing their countries in the European parliament?
hymie, this may come as a shock but MEPs have very little power. Lilly Von Schtupp and the rest of the unelected commission pulls the strings.
//that is not corrupt, incompetent or dishonest.//

Ey? You mean that suitcases stuffed with Arab bribe money being ferried around Brussels in taxis(on expenses), and being laundered through the system is not corruption in the great scheme of all things eeyoo ponzi. Or that trying to confiscate vaccination doses because the gauleiters had not ordered them in a business like manner, mainly dur to decades of all deals being done in secret with a large one all round for the conspiritors? You are indeed suffering with Stockholm syndrome ... seek help urgently.
It's almost as if Qatargate and Von der Leyen’s dodgy vaccine deals never happened...innit!

Remoaners only see what they want to see and not what is actually happening in countries throughout Europe. (I'm still laughing at everything in France is cheaper than UK) some people will say anything to denigrate their own country.
“ If you want your country ruled from abroad then surely that cannot be anything other than treacherous. End of.”

do you believe that everyone who disagrees with brexit is a traitor?
In the 1930s Hitler's nazis made themselves enemies of Great Britain and the UK by their actions and possessive nature. When UK voted to extract itself from the tentacles of a new aggressive inclusivity plan the European establishment once again, by its actions and attitudes, began to act and behave as an enemy of the UK. Haw Haw was executed as a traitor for his incessant broadcast of nazi propaganda and taunts from what he thought was a safe position. I see no difference, in substance, in the almost daily outpourings of Brussels propaganda, and denigration of all things British by our possessed poster and the misplaced bile of Haw Haw. That must make him treacherous by default.
i think the difference is fairly obvious togo
untitled: "do you believe that everyone who disagrees with brexit is a traitor?" - well that's for the individual conscience. I do understand that people who wanted to remain must have thought it was the best thing for our country to be ruled from abroad. So in that sense no, but on the other hand favouring unelected foreigners over our own elected government does have a whiff of treachery about it. Untitled, perhaps you would like to lay out the thinking of a remainer.
