Would The Length Of The Barrel Of A Cannon

...or a gun affect the distance a projectile could travel? I was thinking a long barrel would utilise more of the energy when the weapon was discharged.

I Bought Some Packets Of Ground Colombian Coffee...

... thinking they were instant.  It makes a fine cup of java but there are grounds left in the bottom of the cup. I guess it needs to be filtered.  How's that usually done?
