In some folders within windows xp I can arrange items by "modified" but in "my music" I cannot. Why is this, and how can I change it back?

double click on a folder - gives me "search"

When I double click on some folders within "my documents", suh as "my music" instead of "exploring" them, I get the "search" folder, with the bloody dog thing. It's only some folders, not all of them....
