I am going to see a podiatrist tomorrow, as I have a toenail which is beginning to curl inwards and it is beginning to hurt. I cannot get under it to cut it myself. It's not red or inflamed, just a blooming nuisance.

Any experience/ideas as to what the podiatrist will do. Will it hurt? I am not looking forward to it but I don't want it to become any worse.

I figured it was best to get it all out of the way in one go, then it all heals together. Looking back it would have been far more of a faff and time-consuming to have them done separately. I figured it was best to get it all out of the way in one go, then it all heals together. Looking back it would have been far more of a faff and time-consuming to have them done separately.

I was back and forth to podiatry though with it as they didn't heal well at first and there were some burns from the chemicals but as I can't bend very well to reach my feet, it was difficult for me to take care of them properly. Podiatry were great! Sure I had steroids too at one point which could have delayed healing. Had some antibiotics too.

They were very bandaged up initially, back after 24 hours for a check and dressing change, then went to lesser Mepore type dressings afterwards for a few months.

They were sore but as it was colder weather I lived in fluffy boots which had plenty of room round the toes and easy to get on and off. I was more worried initially about someone treading on them on the bus! My mobility is pretty rubbish anyway but I wouldn't say having this done made it worse, just far more occupied in keeping my toes guarded and untouched.

Thanks, Eve. I know what to expect, now, if I have to go down that route. Hopefully, it will not come to that.
Hope all goes well Tilly

Thank you, Daisy. I'll add that to my Brownie points list.
Just found all this - sorry, big internet problems. About 30 yrs ago I had huge (very, very painful) problems with my ingrowing big-toe-nails. Reluctant to face surgery (young kids, teaching etc.) I resorted to a long and drawn-out course of Dr. Scholl's ingrown toenail treatment softening drops. It did seem to take for ever (over 6 months) - but here I am with perfectly normal toenails 20 years later. So, it was probably worth it
