Sounds good. I haven't checked the facts but as I see it this is the situation: - The Met Office (funded by the taxpayer) provides weather forecasts. - The BBC (funded essentially by taxpayers albeit in a slightly different way) needs weather forecasts. - The Met Office loses the "contract" to provide forecasts to the BBC - The Met Office continues to be funded...

Spot on, Vulcan...... :-)
I use several weather apps from different sources, and the BBC forecast is by rar the worst. The Met Office constistantly get the forecast wrong.

We do not know if the change is due to money or poor results. My guess, is that ot is a combination of both.

The Met Office need to up their game to become competotive again.
// maybe replaced by foreign firm. //

like a Romanian firm: " xere ish da news. it weel be HOT baby ! "

or ISIL inc: jjihadi johns are making their way down from the people liberated republic of scotland - London will soon be inveloped by a kalashnikov mist of bullet-shaped .....hail the size of grenades .....
oh yeah and what about:

a butterfly has flapped its wings in Peking and so storms like tornadoes may be expected in London....

[ sorry a bit of technical reference to the mathematically chaotic modelling of weather first noted by Lorentz in 1961 )
Met office...funded by taxpayer...useless bloated organisation
BBC ...funded by taxpayer....useless bloated organisation

see the emerging picture here....

and Jeremy Corblimey wants to put gods knows what organisations back into taxpayers hands....
It is ok, we have a hotline via sloppy !
wonder if these ladies are interested in the contract:

It takes all sorts - I can't abide Carol Kirkwood - how on earth she has managed to get on the BBC virtually every single day of the year is beyond me.

And can they move her microphone further away - her wheezing puts me off my cereal!
It started to go down hill when the Met office decided to add the words 'climate change' to the end of it's title.
Yes, well its only taxpayers money NJ. Since when have the BBC cared about that, the tap is there to be turned on more as far concerned.

The sooner the BBC is taken out of the taxpayers purse the better.
Poor wee Carol is getting the POOSH?
