When i start my car the engine seems to keep really high revs till it warms up. Don't know why it's just started doing it recently. Once it's warmed up it's fine but cos the revs are high to start with it it takes the speed of the car quite high when i'm just trying to do approx 10mph in my local estate.

A distant diagnosis tells me it may be an air inlet leak...the first check should be the crankcase breather pipe ..below the inlet manifold.
Is this perhaps your automatic choke from what you say.
Automatic choke? Was the question posted from the 1970s? :-P

BRIGHT SPARK - Is there any guide or could you point me in the right direction of where i should be looking cos i'm a complete novice. I'd take to a garage today but there's only KwikFit open & i refuse to use them cos i know i'll be paying over the odds.
If you have limited knowledge, unless its an obvious fault ...like a split intake pipe...I would advise you to book it in at a trusted local garage...or better still a tuning specialist. You may save time and cash in the long run.
