My Plum Tree is attracting large numbers of wasps.
There is no fruit on the tree but the wasps appear to be curling leaves up and sitting inside as though they are nesting.
Any suggestions on the best way to get rid of them please.

The curled leaves may well be caused by a aphids. The aphids leave a sugary film on the leaves ... wasps don't half like a bit of sugar.

Don't know how big your tree is, but I use this to deal with most beasties .. http://www.diy.com/departments/provado-bug-control/228454_BQ.prd?gclid=CP7-1uHwnscCFYsEwwodepgFCA&ppc_type=shopping&ecamp=SEAPLA228454_BQ&ef_id=VcjHwAAABZuazgbV:20150810155751:s

Its my guess that the curled leaves are a distortion, caused by a virus that is transmitted by sap sucking aphids.
Its likely that the wasps are feeding on the sweet secretion (honey dew) that is a waste product from the aphids.
I think you need to treat the cause of the problem by controlling the aphids, I use a non-chemical method by spraying the aphids with a strong jet of water from a garden hose, paying particular attention to the undersides of the leaves.
A couple of applications of washing up liquid solution (eggcup per gallon) worked on my indian lilac tree.

Rid of them? Leave them bee.....they will feed their brood on the larvae of garden pests. Perhaps put out a little barbecued chicken to encourage them. Wasps are our friends.
Mosaic, agree with you re. wasps but aphids are nobody's friend...
