I have someone close to me that has a gambling addiction. He has been to one of the support meetings and then gave up. He has spent so much money and losing it all and it goes round in a vicious cirlce. He regrets gambling and gets into a mess and can't pay bill etc but then it isn't long and he starts gambling again. I have bailed him out a few times but he needs to learn his lesson so I won't be bailing him out again. I have told him he needs to get help etc - I don't know if he will listen to my advice. There have been times where he has lost 2000 in one day at the bookies. What can I do to help him? Who can he speak to about this and get help?

first he must admit that he has no control over his life. then he must ask for help, and mean it. like AA for drinkers, he will learn to take one day at a time. he will have to trust in a power greater than himself and all of us. Help will happen.
Good luck
Yes GA is one dedicated organization working in helping addicted gamblers.
Counseling should be vital. As also constant support from family.
