put in an HP cartridge!
You can try removing it, disconnecting the printer completely from the computer and mains, wait 5 mins and re-connect, it sometimes works. there are several demonstrations on youtube. I had endless problems with non originals on Epsons and finally dumped 2 machines in favour of Cannon.
I now never install updates for my printer I think that's when problems start.
It would prob help if you stated what exactly the problem is.
Are you getting an ink cartridge error message, telling you that it cannot recognise the cartridges, or is there no message at all and the printer simply isn't being seen by your laptop .... or poss some other problem ??
I reported this very same problem several weeks ago, and after uninstalling my 3055A HP printer I re-installed it but still the problem wasn't solved. I had already purchased several cartridges from a well-known offshore company but obviously HP didn't like me using any brand apart from their own. Once I'd purchased the correct cartridge the printer was fine. As a point of interest I found my local Asda store sold them at a very competitive price. These big boys know how to catch us out after we've purchased their products!
HP are well known for liking their own carts - mine is very exuberant with praise when I replace with the real thing, is almost human ( a bit scary really).

Thanks, mŷ printer just says non compatible cartridge, why should I be forced into using HP cartridges, they do not tell you that when you buy the machine. I shall be forced into refilling HP. Cartridges but I bet the company try and stop you doing that too.
It's a big scam really, the printers are cheap to buy and they make the main profit in selling you the cartridges.
I`ll probably get bawled at for this but did you take the little bit of tape off the bottom. Generic cartridges can often have the computer tape connections worn to a point where they dont make a satisfactory connection.
