I have just bought a Toshiba RDXS24 and connected it up to my Panasonic TV with in-built freeview, however when auto-tuning the DVDR it only tunes in the analogue 5 terrestial channels and none of the digital channels. I connected as per drawing (RF in/out DVDR then to TV, scart on AV1 from TV to DVDR) - no joy. I then tried splitting the RF signal into DVDR and TV and tried changing from AV1 to AV2 scart. Still nothing. I called Toshiba and they said to contact Panasonic. Any comments??

The RDXS24 does not have a digital tuner and so cannot tune in the digital channels.

It will not be able to record freeview using the TV's inbuilt tuner; it needs to be connected to an external freeview STB to do so.

You can record a digital tv station on to your recorder.

As the only digital tuner you have is in your IDTV - you need to use this tuner to record digital channels. You will need to set your VCR to recordfrom the SCART input which is connected to your TV (as advised - AV1 or Ext or similar).

YOu will need to ensure that your digital tuner is routed to the SCART output on your TV - this will probably be on a menu on your IDTV.

You will not be able to watch a different digital channel whilst you are recording a digital channel. I

am unsure whether you will be able to watch an ANALOGUE channel (using the analogue tuner in your IDTV) whilst recording a digital channel - your TV instruction manual may advise on this, or you
could try making a dummy recording!

Good luck!

Thanks - I went and bought a freeview STB. I then figured it out.

The digital channel does not register as a TV programme - you get it thru the AV1 or AV2 channel. Bottom line is that I COULD have received and recorded digitral channels with my DVDR without buying a freeview STB.

I am not too bothered, having the STB freeview box means I can record freeview and watch a different programme at the same time, so it all worked out fine.

Thanks for your help though.
