Thank you all so much for interesting helpfull links and all replies.
have taken them all onboard. x
My friend is gluten intolerant and she says things have really improved these days with most shops selling gluten free products. Most restaurants can also provide gluten free bread, pasta etc. don't despair wait and see what the doctor has to say.

Margo, as you say...wait till I see Doctor. Good advice, i will worry no more x
Pusskin - as been said go to GP but when I had trouble going some years back I bought pure bran in the health shop. Simply magic - you just put onto your cereal or yogurt anything as long as you get into you. Good luck with the GP
Pusskin (and Mamyalynne) do your GP's know you are taking Senna regularly. My Consultant was very unhappy when he found out I was taking it a couple of times a week. Apparently it works by irritating the bowel too much and can do long term harm. I am now on nightly magracol (sounds very much like Murraymints recommendation) It is kinder and works by absorbing your fluid intake and causes everything to soften and pass through easily.
If anyone reading this is thinking of using bran, its essential to take it with plenty of liquid and/or increase your general liquid intake. Bran eaten with too little fluid can make constipation worse. If you want to see what I mean, add a little water to bran or bran cereal and leave it for a while...you could make bricks with the resulting mixture!
well woofgang - it always worked for me - but then again if you read my post I did put it into a liquid "something". Fibogel (wrong spelling) didn't do it for me.

Thanks Abers. have woken this morning to read more helpfull replies.
Pleased to say i feel happier this morning, seeing as the prune juice seemed to have worked. I bought 2 large cartons of it the other day.
Untill recently i could go weeks without any Senokot.
As i feel better i know things will improve. Cheers folks
JJ, you said put it on cereal or yoghurt, no mention of additional liquid. If you are a "good drinker" that will be fine but many people aren't and get into difficulties!
woof - plenty of milk and of course I drink a litre of water a day.
I hate to frighten you, but you really must tell the doctor about all of these symptoms. List them on a piece of paper before your visit, so you don't leave any of them out. I hope it is not the same as my friend had, when she reported exactly the same symptoms.
how did you get on at doctor puss ?

Hi all you lovely helpfull Abers. Sorry for not replying sooner, but havent felt too well really. I went to docs last week and had a full blood count that I will hear the result of in the next day or two.
Doctor mentioned irritable bowel syndrone, and will help me sort it once she knows the results of the test.
Also she will send me for a scan of some sort, all being well.
All this bloatedness, backache and aches have made walking a bit difficult with me keep stopping for a rest. How weird.
Will get back to you soon ok.
Incidentally, how does irritable bowel effect you? Would like to know please.
good to hear things are in hand and you are getting the attention you need
