It is meant to be a joke!! As in 'bloody poles coming over here and taking our jobs'!! Obviously it fell on deaf ears!

Is one referring to Polling Stations?
Give up, saintpeter. People are just being obtuse! It made me laugh.
I got it straightaway saintpeter, quite witty :-)

Your ///Obviously it fell on deaf ears!/// Post wasn't there before I posted,
Have you considered the alternative?, that being
It was just not amusing.
Made me laugh!

Baldric - Give me YOUR best shot, come on, make me laugh!!
Mini boo was devastated to learn on NewsRound this morning that some schools were closed...but hers wasn't, lol.
My grandchildren's school is open whilst also being used as a
polling station, my daughter was ranting at me about it yesterday, she is not happy that people will have access to the school premises when it is usually locked up tight with video/intercom access only.
bet you were distraught too, B00... why, long ago, every day spent in little jno jnr's company was just perfect bliss
The only thing I can recollect about the 1959 election is that my brother had the day off - and I didnt ! waaaah !

Balders I think your comment was a tad too pretty-pretty
take another suck of your lemon and have another go !
Was that when 'You've Never Had It So Good' super Mac became prime minister, Peter ?.
According to the exit Poles there might be a tight Finnish; however, I'm not Russian to make any predictions. The whole fiasco has been a little like nether-Netherland...OK, I'm leaving.
Supermac won in '59 but became PM in '57.
There is a Portacabin on the green, it's been there for about a month. The speculation was it would be a loo/canteen/storage area, for workmen who are due to renovate the local pub. So far a cricket ball has bounced off it and broken the Motability shop window, the Indian takeway is complaining because it has blocked their view of the pub, (they wave across to one or two regulars when their orders are ready). So after tomorrow it will be closed up again, I hope it won't be another month before it is shifted.
