Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Easter is almost upon us and while the kiddies may enjoy gorging on the chocolate it is not ideal so how about some healthy but yummy alternative treats instead?

how about some tasty oaty biscuits:

These have honey as a sweetener and no sugar!

Chocolate covered strawberries or other fruit is also a good way to reduce the sugar especailly if you use good quality dark chocolate, or you could use a yoghurt or creme freche dip instead.

This is making me hungry and I might do the yoghurt fruit dip with some chopped bananas, peaches or even dried apricots (although these do have a sugar coating I think).

It can be difficult if you are around your kids or grandchildren but these are a great start :-)

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Well done !
Thanks OG AND marijn. It wasn't the way I had pictured meeting my goal but I guess it's ok.
Good Morning All,

I won't weight myself every week as it is quite difficult both for hubby and myself. With spring here and thoughts of the summer not far off think of what you have achieved since the winter. I find that spurs me on in itself. I love your tips Maydup so please share more with us.
Well done to all of you. Even if you've only lost one pound... so what? It's great and it's in the right direction. Never give up. Well done to all losers... you're all winners.!!
Good news re your weight loss, xstitcher, but not the way you've recently achieved it...hope you're soon back to normal.

No change for me this week, after a long weekend of porridge and poached chicken! Back to carb basics now for my final push to lose a couple of kilos, though with my BMI down to 22 from an almost-obese 30, I'm in no hurry as I'm enjoying myself.

forgot to weigh but I don't feel as if I have gained so hope I am right . Will check tomorrow . That's the way to look at it Jomlette you will get there .
Down 0.8 lbs. Small enough, but at least in the right direction.
(Same as yesterday too, which is encouraging.)
Good og keep up the good work and going the right way .
Thanks.
Not had too many good days for a while. Think I must be limiting the "oh oh" ones. Not that I'm not trying, it's just that I'm tending to total up the intake at the end of the day, and often surprised at where I reached.
Hi everyone, good news all round as I am a half pound down this week. I have been eating plenty of salads (sorry OG I'll try not to swear again in this post!) and am filling up with lovely brocolli spears and kale picked from the garden. I'm still struggling with my sweet tooth and as it was so warm and sunny, I gave in to some icecream today. So I slapped wrist and trotted off to the farm shop to buy oranges!

This week's tip. To help with portion control, use smaller dinner plates.

(Remembering back to meal times at my grandma's and the plates were much smaller in those days.)
The smaller plates and bowls were the saving of Mr Maydup so I back you up all the way!
