1D. Procedure with book to hear visionary profession.
I have OPTOMETRY, which could be described as a visionary profession, but can anyone explain the relevance of the rest of the clue please?

15A. By turning, rested curved line of the skull.
I have CRANIAL, which is 'of the skull', but again where does the rest of the clue fit in?

Cranial backwards = lain-arc
1d) procedure = OP, book = TOME, hear = TRY

15a) rested = LAIN, curved line = ARC, and reverse them
Question Author
Thank you to ejayjay and bibblebub, but I still can't understand 'HEAR = TRY'
what a judge does in court - he hears a case = he tries a case
When a case is" tried" in court it is "heard" by a judge or magistrate.
Question Author
Many thanks again to bibblebub, also to dannyk13.
you're welcome
Turning ARC (for curved) & LAIN ( for rested as in Lie down)
