Spotted the first bedraggled one on a wire on wednesday the 9th. They are now increasing and the cat is again finding safety under our steps! Gotta love and observe nature:-)

Wow that's great and really early. I've always posted my first swallow sighting on here so know last year was 4th May and year before the last week in April so a while to go for me probably (S Dorset)

Congrats!

Yes, saw one on Wednesday but BTO Birdtrack (website) shows other sightings in my county (Pembrokeshire) starting from the 6th, when I last checked.

How far 'up north' are you?
Don't tend to see any around here (Manchester) which is a shame.

The bats are back though, seen them out flying over the garden a few nights running after not having seen them for ages.
That's lovely. I don't see swallows very often where I live (just south of Derby) but they've been seen a couple of miles away. Hopefully the swifts and house martins will be here by the first week of May.

We're in the countryside of mid Northern Ireland. They've been coming here for decades to nest in the nearby farm buildings. We came here from the city and the cat had never experienced the whole swooping thing before,so it was a bit of a shock to her system!
I haven't seen any yet. Too busy looking at Ospreys!
