Has anybody had these painkillers, please? If so, what side effects did you experience?
I took one yesterday and have to take two today, three tomorrow, then stay on three a day.
I can feel todays beginning to work, as I'm feeling light-headed, my hands and feet feel 'floaty' if that makes sense.
Last night, I took the first one at 6pm and fell asleep for an hour and a half. That's not like me at all!
Taking one was bad enough, I'm dreading taking three. I don't want to feel like this all day. I've got a puppy to look after and it's very inconvenient feeling this way. Do the side effects wear off? They must be quite serious tablets as the leaflet inside says that you can't stop them immediately, you have to be weaned off them. I had the same thing with Duragesic patches. My repeat prescription didn't arrive in time and I had appalling withdrawal symptoms. My Mum said that I was behaving exactly like a junkie she'd seen in hospital, who was suffering 'cold turkey'. It was vile and I don't want a repeat performance.
Any advice would be very welcome.

I was on Gabapentin for several months, Sir Alec. Two things I noticed about them. One, I slept very well. Two, they gave me an increased appetite and I gained weight.. The did not help much with nerve pain, for me. I did better on Lyrica/Pregabalin. Persevere with them and see how you go.

Thank you all for your answers and - some horrendous - experiences, especially Matheous-2, I'm sorry your wife had such a bad time on Gabapentin. I've been taking it for a few days now and it seems to be doing nothing for the pain. I've had kidney, hip and leg pain for 11 years, plus I get Costochondritis every year, always in February, which lasts for several weeks, so all of the pain is in the same place and sometimes it's too much to bear and I want to scream!
However, a couple of the side effects have become rather convenient. I feel almost permanently 'stoned' and I seem to have boundless energy. As long as I take things slowly, I'm getting more done in a day than I have in years. It's very odd! I'm falling asleep for a couple of hours around 11pm/midnight, so I'm waking up at 2am-ish, which is a bit annoying, but I've just done all the dusting. My ribs and kidney are aching, so I've sat down and now I'm on here for a while. If the pain gets any worse, I'm going to lie down and read for a bit.
Many thanks once again for your answers, it was interesting to read about other people's experiences and it's amazing how they differ so radically!
