Hi, does anyone have a good recommendation for a hotel in the centre of Manchester? I have a course there at the end of March and will be staying a Sunday to Tuesday. My work have given me a big list of hotels to choose from. I like older architecture hotels (thinking The Midland?) rather than modern looking ones, but the majority seem to be modern? Happy to stay in modern if it is really nice and not sterile though! Thanks.

It's a few years since I stayed at The Midland (used to be a member of their 100Club) but I could never fault it at all (If work is paying then you have to try The French Restaurant - awesome food, awesome prices). As a Mancunian I've never really stayed overnight in town though).
I liked the Midland. I also enjoyed the Ramada Renaissance which is a modern hotel

Thanks for the prompt responses! I'm narrowing down my search based on reviews I'm reading online...so far have:
Novatel, Crown Plaza, Arora International, Doubletree and Midland.

However there are a few others I'm yet to look at...
Macdonald Manchester, Hilton Deansgate, Macdonald Townhouse and Abode?
I always like MalMaisons.
Novatel, Crown Plaza, Arora International, Doubletree and Midland.

are all OK by reputation ( living in Manchester )
