My wife has received DVLA Form V11 reminding her to tax her vehicle on it's 1st year anniversary of registration. Her vehicle is a Skoda Fabia Greenline which is tax exempt. What is the DVLA requesting her to do? The vehicle is obviously not required to have an MOT and the DVLA know it is insured via their data bank.
She is inclined to ignore the letter and bin it but is their some obligation required of driver/owners such as herself.
Advice appreciated as B.A. advice given on V11 in these circumstances particularly as tax discs are no longer required to be displayed or issued.

It's free rather than not required, the process still needs to be gone through, same as for classic cars.
I would not " Bin the letter Retro" just fill in the required form as need be & send it back, Otherwise there may be a prosecution, be on the safe side.
As above, still needs to be registered but no charge
after all retro you know how important it is to obey the law....
no matter how stupid the law is.
Yes, it must still be renewed even though it is free and she won't get a tax disc.

Do it online, it's quick and easy.
Amongst other things she's confirming that she's still responsible for the vehicle and any offences committed involving it (speeding, parking etc).

I agree. In my day the only vehicles that were tax exempt were Emergency vehicles and Invalid carriages and even they displayed a disc.

That joke about the sniper didn't refer to you did it? (Joke section last night) :-)

Thanks again one and all. Just done it on line and received a "success confirmation" by e-mail which I have given to wife to file and NOT in the Filing Bin either.
Sorry if this sounds pedantic...but the car in question is not "tax exempt", but "zero-rated". There is a difference, even though the result for you is the same...no payment required!
And you might be wanting to SORN it and suspend the insurance.
As has been said, do it online.

I did my car tax a few days ago online and it took minutes, and I had to pay.
retro, cost is irrelevant, you still need to be taxed, they will check mot/insurance etc. just use the reminder, log on and it takes 2 minutes
