My friend bought and paid for 2 sofas. They arrived Friday, much darker colour than she picked out, and different colour stitching on the 2 sofas. By Monday, the button detail on the sofa and side cushions were popping off and some stitching come undone!
She called DFS and said not happy and wants them returned, and changed for something else. They have made an appointment for their chief mender type person to come next week and assess the sofas and repair. She is not happy and wants them replaced. They have said it is their decision what will be done.. if the fix it man can mend them, then he will and she will have to keep them. She is really not happy with them at all and wants them replaced with different sofas... does she have any rights for this? Many thanks.

Yes we had a new suite that developed strange marks and stains within a month. Tell your friend to at least wait until the assessor has been and know the recommmendation. To send somone out is standard. We had someone come to look and had the entire suite removed and refunded without too much hassle.

Thanks Prudie.. were they happy to replace, or did they try to make you keep the one you had and have it fixed?
Agree with Prudie says, wait for the assessor to view it. Try and keep calm and explain your feelings. My friend had the same problem and they changed the sofas after a bit of to and froing. If the colour is not what you picked out in the shop then it should be changed.
My daughter bought a sofa from them, within 6 months the seat cushions were flat and the whole thing looked like a family of mini-elephants had lived on it, when in fact they were a young couple with no children. I'd never buy from them after her experience.
why do they have so many "sales" and bargains ? also if you chose their option not to pay anything for 12 months there is a good chance the sofa wont last that long !
We had the same with a leather suite from Courts many moons ago. The leather started to split after 2 weeks. They wanted to send down a chap to repair it. No bloomin way I said I want them replaced. Mention Trading Standards, that should do the trick.
