Just watched an episode about war memorabilia, a woman whose father was shot in the chest and saved by his bible and cigarette case, bullet holes through both and also a letter from the king at the time and she sells them for £190.

Why?..even Paul Martin said afterwards such items should be kept or loaned to a museum

I always think the same when someone sells things such as that, I couldn't part with something so personal.

[shrug] The £190 was worth more to her than the keepsake. Maybe she needed the cash. It's a personal choice.

What amuses me when some are asked why they are you selling it, they will answer "I thought I would give others a chance to enjoy it".

They are not in the least bothered if they do, they just want the cash.

It is the same when some are putting up for auction a very small item, and they are asked the same question "why are you selling it"? and they answer "well we are down sizing".
One has to ask "Something that had saved one's father's life", and they are selling it at all.
