I went to the dentist first thing this morning and I never have any apprehensions about whatever dental work that is ever required. However, on each visit, I'm sat in the chair, mouth wide open, he leans in to look at what he's doing and his coffee breath tumbles onto my face, up my nose and into my mouth so that I can all but taste it. He must gulp some down between patients because his breath is still warm. Staring up his nose at his nasal hair is one thing but this is yuk!

Anyone have a similar problem with their dentist? Would alcoholic breath be better for both of us? It's only a couple of times a year so not worth complaining about.

My dentist always wears a mask.
I'm usually so scared of the drill the last thing I'm worrying about is what he had for breakfast, That dril....EEEK!

Mine doesn't - don't know if that's because he's NHS or just old.
Oh don't .... thinking about it, that's probably what out me off the dentist in my childhood. Not coffee breath particulary but definitely stale breath and not let up whe you're having a filling.
You should get him one :-)
My dentist wears a mask too...without it he'd look quite scary...
Mine wears a mask - she's NHS
Wow, are you serious? My dentist is both old and Nhs and he ALWAYS wears a mask. The next thing you'll be telling us is that he doesn't wear gloves or wash his implements. Be very careful, remember this

And remember that Ebola is a very real threat especially at this time of year when our immune systems are low and accepting pretty much any virus who wan't to enter us
Someone once told me they saw their dentist coming out the gents with his latex gloves still on...put her right off that dentist...
My last 2 dentists have both worn masks, possibly so they aren't bothered by some of their patients' unpleasant breath! (Not mine, of course!)

ebola is not a very real threat unless you're a hypochondriac
Well breathing into a patients mouth with possible microscopic blood particles surely ain't going to help bibblebub

// ebola is not a very real threat unless you're a hypochondriac //

Well, strictly speaking, not even then.

i perceive that to be true
My dentist always wears a mask, don't think he wants to inhale bad breath from his patients.
I was at the dentist yesterday,my dentist doesn't wear a mask for check ups but does for any procedure.

The pattern is,early morning appointment - aftershave, late morning - Coffee, after lunch - Garlic.
If I go to the dentist, it means I'm in severe pain. I am allergic to latex, so I am always on my guard. However these days most gloves/implements are latex free, so once I've checked out the materials I couldn't care less about his or her breath!
