I looked at "The Woman in Black" on Amazon but was rather put off by the 1-star reviews - one of which had the rather odd comment "I've had creepier and scarier moments walking my dustbin down the alley way at night."

Hope you like it ! It was the first Susan Hill I read and I was hooked, but I realise we all have different tastes.
I've only read Woman in Black and saw it in the theatre MANY years ago. The wonderful John Duttine was in it. It was the only time in a theatre I was GENUINELY terrified. It was an excellent production. VERY chilling.
