What Was Good About 2014 For You

A sort of follow on from my "anyone else got that flat feeling" thread below.
Just trying to put things in perspective here, its so easy to be negative but it takes a little work to be thankful, so what was good about the last year for you?
For myself...

I have made 3 new (email) friends right here on AB
I recieved a VERY generous and unexpected xmas gift from a fellow ABer.
I made a new real life friend (through another friend of mine) who I now feel has been my mate for a lifetime.
I have finished my probation order without ending up back in court.
My mum has been given the all clear after beating breast cancer
My brother in law has likewise beat lung cancer.
I have bought a new tv after winning 200 quid on the irish lottery (600 between my mum, niece and myself)

Other stuff as well, just trying to be a bit positive here.

I know were your coming from, Daffy. If one of your children are upset then it makes you upset.

My kids have made me very proud and happy. My 18 year old son was offered a job that he didn't even apply for and he's doing really well at. My other son has surpassed his own expectations in his mock exams. My daughter has a good job, nice life, lovely BF.

Nothing bad has happened.

Yet.

dad got through the year..despite the odds....made more new friends here on AB..friend moved nearby and as she is going through a bad time I am now within a walk away to help when needed...

A few drawings done, writing growing....
One big hole in my life not yet resolved so a big downer and then there is the mater who gradually worsens.
The network of ABers grows through hook and crook and all very nice folk, the ones that I have met or conversed/e-mailed with behind scenes.

Nothing particularly stands out but it was a whole lot better than 2013 (although things are still ongoing with himself's poorly head) - thing 2 was officially declared able to speak (bit of a biggie I suppose) and the fortnight in Florida was v nice though :)

Sibs...you know what it's like with big families. They're all getting older and I always fear the worst when the phone rings.

Carakeel and myself lost a huge part of us earlier in the year, a big dream and a lot of our animals and a lot of money was taken from us by an unscrupulous landlady, and Carakeel spent time in hospital having quite a big operation. However we are very strong and we have come out the other side stronger. We are very happy with our lives again and just looking at the positive things in life and looking forward to the future. :-)

Yes, I always feel depressed when Christmas is over. I somehow can't help thinking, how many more (if any) will I be here for? Morbid, I know, but that's me! Happy New Year to you all!

Trish and I have both survived another year,and so have all our families,so that's near enough for me.

A lot's happened to me in 2014. Most of it, when I look back on it in years to come, might turn out to have been good after all, but honestly at times it's felt like one step forward and two back. We'll see how it plays out in 2015.

But some good things have happened, I guess. I've had a fair few crossword puzzles published; I'm on the verge, I think, of my first scientific paper being released soon-ish, with some positive progress in my research. Watch this space! Despite the steps back I mentioned, I did at least start to get out more, so that's something.

It's been a long and weird 2014. 2015 may be equally weird. I hope it's good weird though :/

It's not been written yet, but before I came home I'd done the work that should go in it. So we'll have to wait and see, and hopefully I'm not jumping the gun too much by predicting it here.

Yes, weird can be interesting! I had some interesting weird but lots of sad and not particularly pleasant weird to go with it.
