Winzip Expired

I've just downloaded the photo editor paint.net and its arrived as a zip file. My installed version of winzip was an evaluation version that has expired and it pops up to say I need to buy Winzip to unzip the file. I'm reluctant to pay the £30 they want for the download.

Is there anything else that I can use please? Right now the file is showing in the toolbar button on my firefox browser and I'm using Windows 8.1. Can you take me through the steps to unzip in any alternative program as I'm not that familiar with it.

Thank you

You don't need winzip (or any other third party product) - Win 8.1 has it built in.

Unzipping:

Right click on the .zip file, and then select the option for “Extract All”. On the screen that pops up, if you just hit “Extract” at the bottom, it will extract the files to a folder in the same directory the zipped folder was, with the same name as the zipped folder. If you want to change where it goes or the name of the folder after it’s extracted, just change the path on the window that pops up.

Thank you sunny-dave. Your advice worked a treat.

Zacs-Master, I tried downloading it again following your advice, but it won't open and comes up with 30 days use expired message. Might be due to entries in registry preventing re-installation of free version.
never use softonic to download anything its full of malware
