My wife's doctor has told her to drink 8 litres of water a day. She is struggling to get through this much. Does anyone drink this much regularly? Thanks.

I thought it was 2 and a half litres a day??I think she should go back to her doc...8 litres..seems a bit over the top.....!!hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Vinny's right, should be 8 glasses, which should be about 2 and a half litres!
I can only drink tap water out of a bottle - which I can carry round and drink as and when and I it doesn't seem so much of a hassle. I really don't like the taste of tap water in a glass anyway....not sure why!
8 glasses is enough. The doc got it wrong- or she misheard!

Thanks guys. I'm sure my wife will be glad to hear this!!!! :-)

Its 2 litres, or 8 pints isn't it?

8 litres is a bit much! :oS

Well, I certainly drank 8 pints last night. Oh, hang on, that wasn't water.
Eight litres converts to slightly over fourteen pints of water. I think a quick phone call to your surgery is in order to clarify matters!
I have a problem with drinking enough water. I simply get too busy to remember to drink. Perhaps the only way to get through the required amount is to keep a little buzzer in your pocket which reminds you every hour to have another drink and mix it with a dash or lemon or fruit juice if it're too boring on its own.
yeah check with the doc - I have read that drinking 4 pints of water in one hour can give you water poisoning as your electrolytes get totally out of whack. (depends on age and weight...)
I can barely manage to drink anything - a few small glasses a day. I just don't get thirsty...
tell you wife to eat foods rich in potassium or take a suppliment. she will be loosing lots of important minerals because she will be peeing a lot.
I keep a pint glass handy and just fill it up as soon as i've finished the last. Requires lots of toilet breaks lol

Think that should be 8 glasses!!

8 litres would do even the fittest of people serious damage!! Highly trained athletes only drink 3-4 litres of fluid per day.

Better get it checked out!

That's waaaay too much water and can lead to some serious health problems. The doctor has mixed up the glasses/litres or your wife misheard! I have linked below a site that will list the effects of over-hydration and they also say how much is recommended.

Yes I do, and sometimes more.. Try drinking water with ice and a staw.. squeze some lime or lemon in it.. make like a drink.. you will pound through lots then...

I also make sure I have water bottles in my car, work, stroller, everywhere!!! Good luck.. You will pee lots but it will even out after a while... even put water beside your bed and drink all night lol
