Spikey Shoes..do They Work?

My garden is mostly clay based soil laid to grass and already has water sitting on top of it. Would those spike aerating shoes help with this issue?

Ahh ok, I did think the spikes would be too short. Looks like it will be me, a garden fork and a bag of sand then lol

A bit more work, but I used a garden fork to sort out this problem.
